Our 2017 spring-summer collection is all about playfulness and freedom, it's a mixture of lose and defined patterns. The Freedom of Choice Collection carries on MEI KAWA's sophisticated and dynamic character. This time the source of our inspiration was a single image. The idea came from the "Vent Man"' photograph, an elderly man from Philadelphia who cooled himself down in the heat standing over a floor vent. His clothes came to life, got filled with air, giving the whole picture a sense of freedom. This is the feeling we aim to pass on through our new collection, which lookbooks photoshoot you can have a glimpse at.
A 2017-es tavaszi-nyári kollekciónk a játékosságról és szabadságról szól, laza és definiált szabásminták egyvelege. A Freedom of Choice kollekció tovább viszi a MEI KAWA kifinomult, karakteres és dinamikus formáit, az inspiráció kiinduló pontja pedig ezúttal egyetlen kép volt. A ruhákat az interneten elhíresült „Vent Man” ihlette, egy idős philadelphiai férfi, aki bő ruháiban egy szellőző fölött hűsíti magát a melegben. A ruhák önálló életre keltek, megteltek levegővel, s az egész képet átlengi a szabadság érzése. Ezt az életérzést szeretné átadni legújabb kollekciónk, amelynek lookbook fotózásába szeretnénk bepillantást engedni.
We've worked with two excellent models; Janka (you might have seen her in the 2016 autumn-winter collection too) and Olivér, who came from the WAM Models agency.
Két nagyszerű modellel dolgoztunk együtt; Jankával (a 2016-os őszi-téli kollekcióban is őt láthattátok) és Olivérrel, aki a WAM Models ügynökségtől érkezett hozzánk.
The campaign photoshoot was characterized by spontaneity; the set up ideas were finalised on the location after some creative brainstorming with the team. Even though the photoshoot lasted long, the professional team we’ve worked with made every moment precious. It wasn’t the first time we collaborated with the photographer Péter Henz, and Márton Nemes, who was responsible for the visual concept. The mood was great in the Flashback Photo Studio, and while the background installation was being set up, Janka and Olivér got familiar with the clothes, Emese Kasza - the designer - had made the last adjustments on them.
A kampányfotózás a spontaneitás jegyében zajlott, ugyanis a fotók beállítási ötletei a helyszínen születtek meg, a csapattal folytatott kreatív ötletelés után. Bár a munka hosszú ideig tartott, a profi csapat, amellyel dolgoztunk, örömmé tette minden pillanatát. Nem először volt szerencsénk együttműködni Hencz Péter fotográfussal, illetve Nemes Mártonnal, akinek a fotózás látványterve köszönhető. Jó hangulatban telt az idő a Flashback Photo Studióban, és amíg a képek háttérinstallációja készült, Janka és Olivér a ruhákkal ismerkedtek, a tervező, Kasza Emese pedig elvégezte rajtuk az utolsó igazításokat.
Belts are playing an important role in this collection; their blue and red colors create an exciting contrast with the clothe's natural shades. It's function is to clamp the layers, but also letting the materials flow freely. As a backdrop, the white geometric shapes were also held together by a colorful strap, which gave a feel of floating, while providing a frame to the installation.
A kollekcióban fontos szerepet kaptak az övek, s ezek élénk színei, mint a kék és piros, játékos kontrasztot alkotnak a ruhák naturális árnyalataival. Funkciója, hogy összefogja a rétegeket, de ugyanakkor meghagyja azok könnyed esését is. A háttérül szolgáló, fehér geometrikus síkokat ugyancsak egy színes pánt fogta össze, ezzel légies, szinte lebegő érzetet kölcsönözve annak, miközben keretet is ad az installációnak.
Particularly interesting features of the collection are the hand-drawn T-shirts, made by the graphic artist Gergely Szőke, who drew unique pattern on every single piece.
