The
2016 MEI KAWA winter collection, Sound of Silence is accompanied by a video etude, which is a closer look on the clothes. The video follows the young couple – previously featured in the photo campaign – who are rooming through the corridors of an architectural rarity, the abandoned building of the former Hungarian Radio. The building preserved the atmosphere of socialism, the audio and sound equipments lying silently and unaffected in the studio rooms padded with sound-proof elements. This silence is broken by the couple, who starts to play the sound apparatus. The rhythm of the video is given by their dialogue – the shifting between the inside and outside, the on and off dynamic of the broadcasting – represent the changing standpoints, the phases of understanding. A MEI KAWA 2016-os téli kollekciója, a Sound of Silence most egy kiegészítő kampányvideóval jelentkezik, amiben a ruhákat ezúttal már testközelből is látjuk. A film a kampányfotókon megjelenő párost követi tovább, akik a rendkívüli belsőépítészetű Magyar Rádió elhagyatott Stúdiópalotájában bolyonganak. A használaton kívüli épület hangstúdióiban a szocialista miliő megragadt levegője vágható, a berendezések érintetlenül alszanak a hangtompító panekkel felszerelt szobákban. Ezt a csendet törik meg a modellek, és újra játékba hozzák a hangkeltő rendszerek sorát. A videó ritmusát az ő párbeszédük adja – az ablakokkal leválasztott kint és bent terei, a ki-be kapcsolódó adás a változó álláspontokat, egymás megértésének állomásait mutatják. A zene Kalotás Csabi munkája, a film Damokos Attila rendezésben Nagy Marcell fényképezésével készült.
